Old

An email rant with a friend, about getting old:

You’re getting old. I suggest repeated listening of “those were the days”.

I guess when you’re young, and naïve about the true extent of the world, its people and what they can achieve, you think anything is possible. As you get older, you realise there is nothing out there that you didn’t already know and you built your revolution on the assumption that there was information out there being kept from you by the powers that be. Eventually, you followed the clues to the hidden grove of knowledge, drew the curtain and found the Wizard of Oz, naked, fat and without answers.

But, that’s reality for you. I’d much rather that, than live in a fantasy world like the religious amongst us. They hold on to the notion that there is something being hidden, some game being played. I prefer reality, where I know everything. EVERYTHING!

On second thoughts, madness works too. If you need me, I’ll be behind this curtain, naked and fat.
