Writing Practice

Well, it's been a while, eh?

Still, this blog exists and serves the purpose it has always had: to keep my writing skills up. Or, more correctly, level them up.

My current thinking about what to write about is fixated on the computer games I play. It's been a long time now since Chas was a minor WoW celebrity and Chas has moved on. He was briefly a commander bent on conquering the Brotherhood of Nod, mainly due to the wonderful thrill of seeing FMV in a game again. He was also Jack Sparrow, Peter Parker and Harry Potter, and while he clocked all three (yay! clocked! haven't used that word in 20 years), they were not satisfying.

But then he was Jackie Escatado, and consumed by Mike Patton (aka The Darkness). That was satisfying, although it fell short of being truly brilliant. It wasn't Escape From Butcher's Bay, but was made by the same people and had the same total immersion style.

But all that has simply been a lead up to the holiday gaming season. It has started with Bioshock, and Chas is currently taking on the role of...um, whoever it is the main character is, and is about to hopefully hand Andrew Ryan's smarmy arse to him (or will he? I've yet to encounter any plot twists in the game). Halo 3, Stuntman: Ignition, Stranglehold and Mass Effect (the biggie in my book!) and soon to feature Chas.

I have an idea for a post about Bioshock and its narrative. Coming soon!
