Business as usual

Sick, tired, depressed, torn, anxious, weak, sore, annoyed, beaten, bruised and down.

Must be Monday.

Can't complain though. It is times like these that I realise how good life is.

I thought gridiron was an American thing. Maybe my yankee naiveity is showing through.

I've said too much!

Gridiron, apart from having the most sci-fi name of any sport I can think of, is a distant relative of my much beloved Rugby Union. It is the ultimate display of your marvellous country's ability to strip an endeavour down to nothing but the most spectacular aspects. I gawk at gridiron when I catch it on ESPN. I marvel at the sheer amount of time spent not actually playing, the audacity to have THREE different teams per side, the gall of allowing the referee to address the massive crowds and the forsight of the creators to allow full body armour to make the hits bigger.

I enjoy it as it is primarily a tactical game, rather than a brute force game (which is why I like Rugby Union, above Rugby League, for the record), yet it still allows massive men to smash each other up.

But mostly, I enjoy gridiron video games, especially as there is simply no decent Rugby game in existence, and FIFA has lost alot of fun factor recently with too much simulation.

Apart from all that though, what is gridiron?
